Junior Schools Cross Country League
This time St Paul's had a three person Lower School Girls Team which saw Charlotte Durham (Yr4) coming in 9th place, Amy Gibbons (yr4) in 31st and Elina Drew (yr3) 34th. Well done girls on your first race of the season - and for two of you your first race ever! These three ensured a 5th place for the team on the day and 13th place overall in the league.
In the Lower Schools Boys Race a larger team than last month competed. Therefore many boys were racing for the first time evr too! Morgan Withers (Yr4) came in 3rd place this time and first time runner Jonathan Durbin (Yr4) coming 19th. Moments later Finley Clarke came in at 27th place with Charlie Jupp improving his position five places better than last months race to come 37th. The rest of the team followed ofcourse with Joshua Cook, 51st, Morgan Purchase right behind in 52nd, Oliver Howell in 71st, Rowan West 76th and Harvey Jacobs 89th. This strong Lower Boys Team were 4th on the day and 8th overall in the league - well done boys! Morgan is currently holding 2nd place on the individual table for Lower School Boys and is in with a chance of an award for this season.
A small well trained Upper School Girls Team once again did very well. Vera Assis came in a brilliant 2nd place followed closely, as usual, by Naomi Marable who finished with strength in 6th position. Surprise of the race was Abigail Gibbons who improved her position from last months fixture by nine places to come in 8th - amazing Abby! Next in was Elizabete Assis who also improved her position by two places to come 24th this time. The Upper Girls Team came joint 2nd with Milfield Prep in this fixture and are holding joint 2nd overall in the league again with Milfield Prep. Vera Assis is holding joint 1st place on the individual table along with St Aldhelm's Rebecca Carver and is therefore also looking at an award for the league. Noami is currently holding 4th and Abby 9th.
The Upper Scholls Boys Race is just as exciting with Curtis Stevens (Yr6) coming in 9th this time follewed by Harry Jupp (Yr5) 21st. Improving their race positions were Lewis Clarke (Tr5) 26th (13 places better - brilliant!), Tyrone Bulger (Yr5) 34th (7 places better - more brilliance!) and Ian Key (Yr6) 40th (an astounding 19 places better -man of the match!).
Close behind came Jamie Bowles (Yr5) 46th, Sam Burr (Yr5) 49th (very consistant Sam!), Josh Davis (Yr6) 93rd and Joseph Harding (Yr5) 99th. This strong boys team came 3rd on the day and are now 4th in the league overall. Well done! Curtis Stevens is also in the individual table at 5th place at present.
I hope you all enjoyed the race as much as Mr Chorley and Mrs Watts.
